Clonmacnois
Medieval Monastery dating from the sixth century AD. It was the
burial ground of Kings of Tara and Connaught. There are excellenct
examples of ninth century 'High Crosses', carved with biblical
scenes.
Cragganaunowen
Prehistoric site "The Living Past" designed to bring
Bronze Age (1,000 BC) & Celtic culture to life. Set in the grounds
of Cragganaunowen Castle. The site also contains a leather-hulled
boat used to retrace the route to North America in the sixth
century by St Brendan and his crew of Irish Monks. 
Birr Castle
The family seat of the Earls of Rosse. Glorious landscaped gardens
dating from the 1700's and a telescope from the mid 1800's which,
until recently was the largest in the world.
Galway
A lively University City, cultural centre of Irish speaking regions
in Western Ireland. Home of the famed 'Cladagh Ring' and 'Galway
Hookers' traditional sailing boats.
Pubs and traditional music
Sessions of informal and impromptu music, as well as song and
dance in many pubs. You never know who you might meet. Guests
may be encouraged to join in!
